With more and more apathy spreading through the Republican base, it is hard for any candidate to get a foothold and move out front as the leader of the pack.  Source: AP

Michelle Malkin has her thoughts on it here in a recent post.  She also talks about the noticeable decrease in GOP fundraising with candidates distancing themselves from the Conservative base in a post a few day ago here.  I touched on this decrease in financial support in a post here a few days ago.  A post here on a GOP blog cautions what happens when you shirk the base.
