Gathering ’round the idiot box with Hill

I just ran across this article in NewsMax about the Hillary camp borrowing the idea of house parties for her supporters to get together to watch her performance in the presidential debates.

Taking a page from and other online organizing pioneers, supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will host 400 house parties to watch her square off with her Democratic rivals in Monday’s presidential debate.

The parties are sponsored by Club44, an effort by the Clinton campaign to recruit younger female supporters.

Ann Lewis, who heads the campaign’s women’s outreach effort, said the idea came from California, where Clinton supporters have hosted informal debate-watching parties throughout the campaign. It’s been steered at the national level by a group of campaign interns, using weekly e-mails to Clinton’s mailing list. The parties will take place in Washington, D.C., and in most states.

Hollywood types, including Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson, along with others notable Clinton supporters, will be doing pre-debate warm-up calls.

Supporters are even able to buy supplies for their house party here.  You have to give them credit.  There are websites all over, like here and here, recruiting people to host them.  They are working the angles to try to make it an experience for their minions.

I can think of a few other things I would rather do than gather with a group of Hillary supporters and a root canal is probably close to the top of the list.  It seemless less painful.
